What you’ll do as a HR Coordinator at Akuna:

Akuna is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources team. This individual will handle core administrative tasks and serve as a key point of contact for employees, while also coordinating our internal communications and engagement initiatives. You will collaborate with employees and stakeholders across all departments at Akuna to develop initiatives & programming to engage, develop, and retain talent, and identify opportunities that foster the welcoming and supportive culture we are so proud of! You will also have the opportunity to help identify ways to improve our HR processes and support special departmental projects. Well-qualified candidates will be collaborative and professional, demonstrating strong communication skills and exercising appropriate discretion in all duties. In this role, you will: 

  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee HR inquiries, providing guidance on policies, procedures, benefits, and employment verifications
  • Facilitate existing employee engagement initiatives, while strategizing new ways to enhance the employee experience and ensure Akuna remains competitive in our offerings
  • Propose and support process improvement efforts and projects that drive operational efficiency
  • Assist with immigration and global mobility processes, acting as a liaison between employees and outside immigration counsel
  • Provide administrative support for employee onboarding and offboarding processes as needed
  • Assist with day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs & leave policies  
  • Create and distribute internal communications, such as company newsletters, and coordinate our quarterly Town Halls
  • Compile and analyze data to support HR, recruitment, and senior management
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable policies and laws
  • Maintain employee files and records, along with internal HR process documentation 

Qualities that make great candidates: 

  • At least 1-2 years of prior Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Working knowledge of core HR processes, policies, and legal/compliance requirements; SHRM or PHR certification is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset when handling sensitive or complex employee inquiries
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate are must-haves
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively manage time in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Proactive problem-solver capable of identifying issues and generating solutions
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player with a can-do attitude
  • Demonstrated interest in data reporting and analysis
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
  • Experience with HR systems, such as Namely and Culture Amp, is a plus

In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the minimum base salary starts at $55,000. Exact compensation offered may vary based on many factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skill set. This role is also eligible for a discretionary performance bonus as part of the total compensation package, in addition to the benefits listed here: https://akunacapital.com/our-culture#benefits.
